The core function of the Howo T5 air storage tank is to provide a stable air source for the vehicle's pneumatic control system, ensuring the normal operation of key functions. The specific functions are as follows:
- Storing compressed air: The air storage tank stores clean compressed air compressed by the air compressor and processed by the dryer. It serves as an "energy reserve" for the pneumatic control system, preventing frequent operation of the air compressor and ensuring stable air pressure during use.
- Ensuring braking system operation: This is the most crucial function. During braking, the compressed air in the air storage tank is delivered through pipelines to the brake chambers, driving the braking components to slow down or stop the vehicle; releasing the parking brake (handbrake) also requires air pressure from the air storage tank to ensure the vehicle can start normally.
- Supporting other pneumatic control functions: In addition to braking, some models' clutch assist, pneumatic windows, air horns, and other auxiliary devices also require compressed air from the air storage tank as a power source to ensure the normal use of these functions.
- Buffering air pressure fluctuations: The air pressure may fluctuate when the air compressor is operating. The air storage tank can act as a buffer, making the air pressure output to various systems more stable and reducing the impact on pipelines and components.
- Assisting in separating moisture and impurities: Although the air dryer has already processed the air, a small amount of moisture and impurities may remain. The air storage tank can temporarily store these impurities, and regular drainage (opening the bottom drain valve) can reduce the impact on the air path.
